Lead a corporate sized suburban congregation of 1600+ members, an ASA of 300+ and a full-time staff team of 8+. Congregational life centers around inclusion of all, spiritual formation and outreach to the wider community. Since 2017, the congregation has grown by over 40%. During last several years parish has significantly grown in outreach efforts, adult, children and youth formation and a core commitment to radical inclusion. Recently, the parish has engaged in intentional conversations about race and white privilege. Since 2017, the congregation has sponsored 9 people of Holy Orders, all who are now ordained or at various stages of the ordination process. The parish has continued to flourish during the COVID19 Pandemic through moving many parish’s offering into digital formats. The parish in now the largest congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Greater Boston Area

Grace Episcopal Church, Medford, MassachusettsLed a pastoral/program size extremely diverse urban/suburban congregation with a large pre-school and after-school program; vibrant children, youth, and young adult ministry; and growing outreach and environmental programs. In 9 years, the parish grew more than a 60% growth in attendance, had significant growth in stewardship, doubled its annual budget, grown its childcare center, completed a major capital campaign and building project, re-started the Protestant Chaplaincy at Tufts University, grew in community outreach and connection, sponsored several people for ordination and developed Christian formation for all people. The parish became a model for lay leadership development in partnership with the Leadership Development Initiative, for providing weekday Christian formation for all ages, and for “green” improvements and environmental stewardship. During this time the parish also dealt with and continues to heal from past clergy sexual misconduct accusations and the deposing of a former rector. Staff supervision of a team of 8 people, including assistant rector, two musicians and afterschool and child care center Director. Budgetary oversight of $1.15 million (church, $400K; child care center, $750K). Priest-in-Charge, 2008-2010, part-time 2008-2009.

Served as Director of a young adult social justice internship and spiritual formation program. Responsible for all aspects of the program including intern supervision, placement, spiritual formation and recruitment. Co-led effort to triple the size of the program, including strategic planning, fundraising and support building leading to the founding of the Life Together Young Adult Intern Program.

Greater Boston Area

Celebrant, Preacher, and Officiant at parish and pastoral services for a growing suburban program-size congregation. Led the creation of and was primarily responsible for a new Sunday (evening) “Come As You Are” service with an average weekly attendance of over 35. Led a weekly men’s group with 15 regular participants. Led parish new member’s ministry. Oversaw and provided leadership for children and youth programs with over 170 participants, including supporting and nurturing teachers and volunteers and helping to build lay ownership of the programs. Provided general pastoral and spiritual care for members of the parish of all ages, with special attention to new members and families with young children. Priest-in-Charge, Fall 2007, during Rector’s Sabbatical, overseeing all aspects of parish life, including supervising a staff team of nine.
