Provided leadership and support for metadata and collections management services in the Rubenstein Library. Administered ArchivesSpace, the archival collections management system, and evaluated, developed, and deployed scripts (Python, XSLT, SQL) and other tools to streamline descriptive workflows, metadata maintenance, and inter-departmental communication, reporting, and assessment activities across the Rubenstein.

Served as the expert in descriptive (DACS) and encoding standards (EAD, MARC) for archival collections in the Rubenstein Library. Provided primary support and coordination for the creation and maintenance of digital object metadata (Dublin Core, METS) in the Duke Digital Collections. Developed and maintained project-based and library-wide documentation for metadata application profiles and best practice guidelines. Led the implementation and migration to Archivists' Toolkit (2012) and later to ArchivesSpace (2015). Trained and supervised staff, interns, field experience students, and volunteers.

Consulted with several small to medium-sized cultural heritage institutions on implementing ArchivesSpace collection management software. Engineered ETL processes to migrate archival data from various legacy systems to ArchivesSpace using the ArchivesSpace API; developed and delivered custom training for staff; recommended and implemented application configurations to align with institutional workflows.

Processed archival collections both large and small at a variety of descriptive levels and created EAD finding aids according to DACS and local best practices. Conducted research on finding aid usability and developed functional requirements and mockups for a new finding aid interface in the Wilson Library.

Processed and cataloged archival and manuscript collections, created finding aids, and provided in-person and remote reference service. Wrote institutional guidelines for MARC cataloging of manuscript collections according to DACS and AACR2. Authored feature articles for a quarterly newsmagazine and selected images to accompany articles in Ohio Valley History, a quarterly academic journal. Mounted exhibits and other displays related to Kentucky and Ohio Valley History.
