Storage Brand Hdd/Ssd And Commodity Development Core Team Lead
In this role I was the lead of a global virtual team. I act through cross functional relationships with IBM brands (System X, Power, Entry Midrange Storage, and DS8000) to leverage work and minimize the effort to deliver common drives. My collaboration with Procurement, Commercial, Development, and Manufacturing groups was essential to ensure the earliest time to market with highest quality for our Storage Brand drive programs. A significant part of this role was working with our drive venders, Seagate, HGST, Toshiba, Intel, Micron, Sandisk and Western Digital, as well as our OEM partners, Celestica, Xyratex, LSI and Netapp.I took the Development Core Team Lead role at the end of 2011 in the midst of the Thailand floods that impacted 2.5” and 3.5” drive vender supply. I was able to hit the ground running and engage teams in Israel, Hursley, Tucson, and Guadalajara to expedite drive certifications for alternate source venders to enable the commercial team and procurement to bridge the supply gap.Since then, I have built strong relationships with our teams worldwide and have demonstrated my ability to work with divisions outside of development to create and execute the HDD/SSD Integration strategy for IBM Storage brand.
Hdd/Ssd Integration Development Engineer Dasd Development
I interfaced between IBM Storage development engineering and our OEM partner LSI to build our HDD and SSD roadmaps for the Entry and midrange DASD Storage Products. I was responsible for the end to end requirements to integrate the HDDs and SSDs as planned - Classical Testing, Integration test, Compliance Test, Emissions etc. Additional I interlocked with Marketing, Sales and Procurements on time to market requirements, cost reduction, and schedule. This roll gave me skill sets in working with teams external to IBM and closing IBM specific requirements while balancing them against the OEM vender's internal roadmap of deliverables for other customers.
Tape Test Architect And Lead For Tape System Level Test
I work with test engineering at IBM from April 2001 to December 2006. I have a strong technical back ground in quality assurance built off my experience as the Test Architect for IBM Tape Storage and Drive Integration engineer for IBM Disk storage from 2001 to 2012.As a test architect I was brought in on customer calls to work through configuration issues and help build recreate test stands for debug. These customer interactions gave me insight to how narrow our test efforts actual were and prompted me to spend time at the Tucson Customer Briefing center to bring customer perspective back to our test labs and enable customer like testing with our Independent Software vender products for managing storage in addition to our in house developed product stress suites.
Operations Specialist
I owe the leadership skills I have to day to my time in the US Navy.I left as a Petty Officer 2nd class and through the 10 years in the Navy I learned how to be a follower and leader on a team.Either as a member of the Combat Information Center and supporting the mission goals or as a member of the fire control party beating fires on cargo ships I learned situational awareness and how to contribute to a highly functional team to achieve the mission objectives.
