As the first new employee of EDAS, my role extends from product design through to business development/strategy. I am working directly with the director, ED Pennington-Ridge to continue EDAS' exciting growth and strive for innovative design solutions.

During my sandwich year of my Loughborough university degree I completed a challenging role as a project lead for a prototype printed circuit board (PCB) assembly company called Electronic Assembly Services. The difficulty came with the complexity of a new engineering discipline to which required a very precise knowledge and the fast moving environment with daily deadlines to meet. Within this role I was quickly tasked with supervising large orders of PCBs and ensuring that order priorities were met and problem solving supply chain issues. I found the challenge exciting and enjoyed the large amount of responsibility that I managed.

An exciting and multidisciplined role as a business analyst in Rokker. Rokker is a Business design consultancy that has a specific expertise in the igaming industry but also takes on various other consultant briefs. The role entailed research and design tasks for project leads, including research into smart cities, future and current trends in the sports industry, an igaming 'ecosystem' and marketing tools. I worked with a small team of 7 which allowed me to stay close with all projects in the pipeline and have an impact on the end result.

Ethiopia

Worked for a high-end ecotourism African travel company called Journeys By Design or more specifically their sub company ‘wild philanthropy’.• Managed the local workers in camp maintenance and community projects such as installing a solar powered pump in the Omo river to provide a water source to provide the potential to unused land for farming. As there was a communication barrier (they spoke little to no English), I learned how to suggest ideas through other methods such as very clear use of physical and verbal language.• In addition, we also worked alongside the workers in the highly laborious tasks such as digging trenches, cutting back forestry and building new accommodation in the compound. This required persistence, patience and tough grit because the tools available were basic hand-held tools provided by the locals that caused my hands to blister.• The camp was isolated with no cell reception so I worked with no outside help for a month with a list of tasks to complete and I created a schedule around this to manage work and tasks to ensure they were completed with tasks of primary importance finished first.• In this role, I was tasked to host the guests and help with communication between them and the indigenous.

Ireland

During this experience, i travelled abroad to the west coast of Ireland to meet Tom Doidge-Harrison, a surf ambassador for Patagonia Clothing. He taught me about the ergonomics and physics behind surfing. But I also quickly learnt new skills such as how to make surf repairs and even fully manufacture small cell polyeurothane boards
