I am a recent graduate with a BA in Geography and a graduate certificate in GIS. I am working to obtain entry level employment in a GIS capacity. My major coursework at California State University Long Beach was heavily focused around GIS and geospatial techniques. From this coursework, I consider myself highly skilled working with Esri software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Online. I also developed skills in relational database management and SQL through an Enterprise GIS course taken in my major coursework. I am a self-driven individual which is displayed by my ability to teach myself Python and how to automate GIS workflows using ArcPy. I have gone through a multitude of open online resources to strengthen my skills in these areas and feel as though I am proficient enough to comfortably use these skills in a GIS workplace. When I am not sharpening my geospatial analysis skills I enjoy spending time outdoors going on hikes or participating in organized sports like baseball and basketball. I am currently involved in my local youth baseball organization by umpiring their games. Umpiring is rewarding and enjoyable but is also challenging at times. In order to succeed as an umpire, a person must be able to thrive in fast paced environments and possess the ability to maintain focus in chaotic situations. These skills translate well to professional environments and would make me a valuable asset to any workforce.
