About Noah Ports
I am currently a Crisis Intervention Specialist (Team Lead) with Center for Community Resources. I have worked for both the local county crisis and the 988 lifeline. I have been able to interact with a diverse and high risk population. I have experience de-escalating situations, providing assessments, creating safety plans, and helping provide referrals. I have worked with individuals of all ages and provided mental health support to anyone who needed it. I have also provided support to my co-workers through training, ensuring quality assurance through intensive note taking and review. Throughout this, I have taken every opportunity given to grow and improve as both a Crisis intervention specialist and in my personal development. I plan on going back to school to obtain a PhD in social psychology. One passion of mine is I want to study human biases and heuristics. I would like to observe these biases from their effects in interpersonal relationships and also how they are developed on a neurological level. I would like to focus on how these biases and heuristics not only form but what occurs as someone attempts to reshape their biases. I have an interest in human judgement making and moral reasoning and how that affects our ability to develop a more diverse and accepting society. After graduating college, I have continued to develop a better understanding of the current research out there on these topics of interest such as reviewing current published research, reading additional educational texts, and also developing a better understanding of different statistical techniques and softwares. I have also used my position as a Crisis Intervention Specialist and team lead to help develop my ability to be a leader and also learning to interact with a diverse population.I graduated Mount Aloysius College in 2022 with a B.A in Psychology with a minor in Sociology (GPA: 4.0). During my time at Mount Aloysius College I was a Resident Assistant for 2 years, a member in the psychology club, a Supplemental Instructor for General Psychology (2 years), and I also worked as a peer tutor for Neuroscience. I have taken many useful courses including statistical research, social psychology, cognitive psychology, Neuroscience, and Tests and Measures. I was actively involved in research in both a group environment and by myself. I completed an independent study under the guidance of Dr. Laura Lansing focusing on interpersonal relationships and how race and whether individuals are perceived as similar affects the perceived likelihood of becoming friends.
