About Noah Ziegler
At a young age, I developed a passion for sports journalism and broadcasting. From starting as a cameraman to commentating basketball games, I've shown leadership and dedication to sports reporting. In high school, I created and managed my school's athletics Twitter account. I also launched my school’s broadcasting network where I gave live commentary for boys and girls basketball games. As a freshman at JMU, I began writing for the student newspaper, The Breeze. I covered the football, men's soccer, men's basketball, men's and women's tennis and softball teams. I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina, to cover JMU in the 2018 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament. As a sophomore, I covered more football and continued my other beats. In September, I launched a sports talk radio show on WXJM 88.7 FM. I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina, once again to cover JMU in the 2019 CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. I was also named Sports Editor for The Breeze for the upcoming 2019-20 year, where I’ll be covering JMU football and managing the sports section. In the summer of 2019, I interned with the United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section in Reston, Virginia. I assisted with marketing campaigns, online content and office administration, and helped work tennis tournaments in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.My junior year at JMU was where I began coverage of JMU football. I covered each game — home or away — and wrote game recaps, feature stories and general news articles. In January, I had the privilege of traveling to Frisco, Texas, to provide total coverage of JMU in the FCS National Championship. In the spring, myself and two other former sports editors won first place for our sports pages designs in the Virginia Press Association’s yearly contest. In the summer of 2020, I interned with the Bethesda Big Train and the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League as a writing and social media intern. I wrote articles for the Big Train's monthly magazine, The Beacon, and assisted in running the team's social media pages. I updated the CRCBL's history on its website and helped with various tasks. My senior year saw many obstacles, but I helped guide The Breeze Sports through the COVID-19 pandemic. I also provided color commentary on multiple JMU basketball and softball games. Upon graduation with a degree in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in journalism and a minor in Sport Communication, I'm eager to chase the opportunities that life has in store.
