Dedicated. Collaborative. Innovative.Dedicated- As I played football for the same town for 9 years, I showed up to nearly every practice. I also tried my best to play in every game, despite having to fight through injuries. When I reached the varsity level, I was elected to be a team captain and a leadership council member. When in comes to my involvement in the Civic Leaders Center at IU, I participated in multiple volunteering events that enabled me to help the Bloomington community.Collaborative- Through my participation in DECA, I learned how to work well with a partner on important projects. We initially bumped heads on what information should be included in our presentation, what the name of our company should be, and even how we should introduce ourselves to the judges. Eventually, we began to understand the way one another thought, and we were able to get work done much faster. Innovative- I am always looking for ways to improve the way in which something can be done. A few summers ago, I worked as a package handler for UPS, where I had to place various sized boxes into my assigned trucks. Since boxes were weird shapes and sizes, I had to come up with new techniques to fit everything in the trucks. I would leave the biggest packages outside the truck until the end so that I had a walkway in the trucks throughout the day. Even when it is a simple task, I always come up with my own strategies for getting things done.Taking these three characteristics into account, the ideal workplace for myself in the future would be one where I am able to work with others in a creative and competitive environment.
