As a student engineer at Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions (BAMS), I assisted in developing solutions utilising machine vision, robotics, and other automated systems to enhance the performance of manufacturing equipment for customers in a range of industries, from medical technology, electronics manufacturing, food and beverages, and more. Using a range of technologies, from PLCs, to Python, to specialist robotics and electronics testing packages, I drew on a diverse range of skills every day to get my job done.

At Advanced Boilers and Combustion I supported the automation and electrical teams at a major industrial supplier that designs and installs solutions Australia wide out of offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. In my role, I was responsible for creating and modifying electrical diagrams in an accurate and efficient manner, providing electricians and automation personnel onsite the knowledge they need during the installation and servicing of large steam boilers. I also assisted in programming Siemens and Rockwell PLCs under the guidance of senior automation engineers at the company. Through this role I learnt how a medium sized industrial supplier operates from an engineering, business, and compliance perspective.

At NHJackson Robotics I developed robotics and automation solutions for clients on the Mornington Peninsula, including the development of a machine vision based object tracking system. I also consulted with clients on various projects and provided engineering drafting services.

In my role at Radin Technologies I had to design and implement engineering solutions as a part of a team that operates across Australia and overseas. This involved developing professional business skills such as liaising with clients and explaining technical concepts, meeting deadlines, and researching new products for the business. During my time at Radtec I worked on projects requiring mechanical design skills to produce custom structures using aluminium extrusion and other bolt on hardware such as linear rails. I also worked on modifying and improving PLC code, and with the help of experienced team members, I was able to troubleshoot and fix automation processes. When I wasn't working on projects, I worked on quotes for potential clients, improved the internal processes at the company, and continued my own professional development so I could bring the business the latest information from industry bodies such as the Association for Advancing Automation (A3).

At Ultracut Industries, I was able to obtain genuine industry experience within a manufacturing role, working alongside skilled tradespeople and engineers as well as other manufacturing staff. This role allowed me to enhance my attention to detail and my planning skills, undertaking manufacturing tasks such as electrical cabinet assembly, wiring, and pneumatic component assembly. I also had to use CNC and manual tools including tending to a CNC Milling Machine. As a part of this, I had to work as a valued member of a team, being delegated tasks from more senior colleagues and managers.

In my role at Woolworths Mornington East, I developed key employability skills such as customer service, employer-employee relations, and organisational skills. As a Checkout Officer and Assisted Checkout Attendant, I was tasked with scanning customers items, assisting with queries or product enquiries, and performing basic maintenance on checkout equipment as required.
