About Nobuo Sato

I am working on pure mathematics, more specifically on number theory. My research interest covers the periods of motives and special values of L-functions. Currently, I am mainly working on the periods of fundamental groups, using a certain class of differential equations and motivic frameworks. I got my Ph.D. degree at Kyoto University in 2017. Then I worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Center for Theoretical Sciences in Taiwan for about a year. I then got another postdoctoral fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and did a postdoctoral researcher at Kyushu University as my second job. Afterward, I moved back to Taiwan again to start a new job.

    I am currently working as a Postdoc Fellow in National Center for Theoretical Sciences, Mathematics Division. My research field is number theory, and I am especially interested in algebraic number theory and its relation to zeta and L-functions. There are numbers called periods of (mixed) motives which extend the notion of algebraic numbers in terms of integrals. These numbers often occur in deep aspects of number theory and enjoy amazing properties. After I got my Ph.D, I have been mainly working on iterated integrals on a complex projective line.
