In the Spring of 2023 I decided to explore other interests outside of my passion for technology. I completed several through-hiking trips around the Northern Rockies of Montana, volunteered at the University of Montana's Psychology of Learning Lab, and spent five weeks in Colombia exploring and improving my Spanish. It was an incredibly fulfilling time away from traditional work. I came back from these adventures re-energized and ready to dive back into software. I was looking to be a part of a strong team working towards a mission aligned with what I felt to be important and necessary.

- Responsible for maintaining and improving authentication and authorization applications for time.com. Involved: improving CI pipelines with Github Actions, testing, error monitoring through New Relic, and updating dependencies. Resulted in enhanced developer experience and productivity.- Responsible for replatforming and transitioning responsibilities of time.com’s auth systems to a new service, Zephr, in order to cut costs and streamline key data pipelines.- Created organizational standards for private Github Packages within TIME’s private repositories. Resulted in a new team-wide approach for creating private reusable libraries for internal apps.- Developed features for improving digital subscription and user engagement: enhanced region-specific meter and registration, increased tooling for internal customer service to help subscriber requests.

- Part of the team which architected and built a brand new authentication and authorization service for time.com and timeforkids.com. Resulted in better collection of user data, allowed users to manage their subscription, and provided tooling to customer service to help address user issues.- Primary stakeholder responsible for researching, documenting, and implementing a robust testing component of the engineering team’s development life-cycle. Involved meetings, gathering feedback, and ‘Test-a-thons’ where team members were on-boarded to new testing standards for existing code and new features. Resulted in a successful implementation of a new and vital part of the development life-cycle for TIME engineering. - Designed and implemented a means for anonymous users to gain full access to time.com’s content through NICKLPass (a payable 3rd party). Resulted in TIME being able to offer access to digital content as part of future partnerships with other organizations.- Launched special projects connected to TIME’s unique franchises: Person of the Year, Person of the Year Reader Poll, and TIME100. - Responsible for general work in TIME’s Wordpress instance- updating newsletters, creating custom plugins, refactoring apis, and creating tools for the edit team.
