As Manager of Engineering, I provide leadership and guidance to a team of associate engineers in performing power system studies such as short circuit, load flow, and dynamics studies for electrical transmission and distribution systems. Additionally, I work closely with distribution planners to identify electric distribution system improvements. My role also includes mentoring and training less experienced engineers on the use of engineering software for protective relay studies on Transmission and Distribution systems.

As an Associate Engineer, I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience across several areas of electrical engineering. One of my primary responsibilities was ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. I used GE Positive Sequence Load Flow (GE PSLF) to prepare change files for base cases and submitted annual under frequency load shedding (UFLS) data requests from WECC. I also reviewed transmission and generation systems to ensure compliance with applicable NERC standards.In addition to my compliance work, I focused on protection systems, performing short circuit and protective device coordination studies for generation, transmission, and distribution systems in the district. I performed relay setting calculations and analyzed microprocessor relay event reporting to determine the cause of outages and proper operation. I also performed load flow and contingency studies to maintain adequate reliability in the district's substations and reviewed Arc Flash assessments performed by consultants.Finally, I worked on substation design, reviewing specifications for procurement of substation power transformers above 10 MVA, witnessing core and coil testing and factory final acceptance testing of power transformers, and reviewing specifications of long lead time electrical devices (circuit breakers, circuit switchers, capacitor banks) for substation projects.Throughout my time in this role, I gained a deep understanding of various aspects of electrical engineering and developed my technical skills in several areas. I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to complete projects on time and within budget, and I remained up-to-date on industry trends and best practices. My attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly were key to my success in this role.

As an Assistant Electrical Engineer, I was responsible for performing various research and analysis tasks to support Transmission and Distribution construction projects. This included conducting cost/benefit analysis of assembly parts to determine their suitability for use in these projects.In addition, I performed Arc Flash Studies for Modesto Irrigation District well pumps, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. I also conducted coordination studies to determine proper coordination between Utility and primary metered customer relays, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.Throughout my time in this role, I developed a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and applied this knowledge to successfully complete projects and tasks.

As an Electrical Engineer, I conducted various Power System Studies, including Short Circuit, Protective Device Coordination, and Arc Flash Analyses. During my tenure, I reviewed single line diagrams, manufacturer documentation, and submittals to ensure system design and code compliance with NEC, ANSI, and NFPA 70E.To perform these studies, I consulted IEEE Standards and conducted field surveys to gather electrical equipment data. With this information, I produced detailed single line drawings, analysis reports, evaluation tables, and charts. My attention to detail, deep understanding of electrical systems, and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly were key to successfully completing projects and delivering high-quality results to AEC (Applied Engineering Concept) clients.In this role, I collaborated with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to provide recommendations and solutions for various power system challenges. I also remained up-to-date on industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance with best practices and safety standards.
