About Noel Dodge

I have 22 years experience in wildlife biology spanning much of the United States. My early years focused on avian biology including Passerines, Raptors, and seabirds, eventually expanding into mammal studies. As a consultant I spent a number of years working in the renewable energy industry, primarily in wind power. Though I sometimes miss the intense field work, I'm happily settled back in my home state, and utilizing more of my forestry and land management training along with my wildlife experience to protect Vermont's species of fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats. I most recently moved into the Private Lands Section Chief role at Vermont Fish and Wildlife where I coordinate with the Lands and Habitat Program Manager and Wildlife Division Director on administration of all facets of private land technical assistance including habitat management, enhancement, restoration, land use planning and regulation, and coordination with other state, federal and nongovernment organizations. Additionally I administer department efforts to provide technical assistance to landowners, municipalities, permit applicants, conservation organizations, and developers for regulatory and non-regulatory processes and their impacts on fish and wildlife resources. I lead department, agency, or cooperative teams or committees to plan, prioritize, develop, and implement wildlife habitat management, enhancement, and restoration projects.Specialties: Wildlife field work, field team logistics, project management, project planning, staff training and supervision, bird species Field ID, Mammal tracking/trapping, ESRI ArcPro GIS, program R, data science, Microsoft Access database design.
