I work in accounting! This is not where I saw myself going in life but here I am. I am a shareholder in a small accounting firm based in Western Washington, serving small to midsize businesses with back-office accounting services and tax preparation. My current position as the Director of Business Development keeps my focus on developing new relationships with prospective clients, Onboarding those who allow us to serve them, and managing our skilled team of accounting specialists who take care of their Bookkeeping, Payroll, and Tax every day.How did I get here? Through many twists and turns God has led me to this place today. In 2009 I began attending The Golf Academy of America in Chandler Arizona. My plan was to pursue a career in the golf industry at completion. This plan failed largely due to the impacts of the recession on the Golf Industry and some major health issues I found myself dealing with at that time. After several years of struggling to find a place in the industry, I took a step back to find a route forward. Accounting was a class during earlier times that I had enjoyed. Also, my health issues required a career with lower physical requirements than my earlier position as a Bicycle Mechanic. In 2015 I began studying for a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Western Governors University. Within a month of completing this program, I was fortunate to find a position with the same firm I am blessed to work with today.What is next? In the summer of 2024, I will again complete an MBA program at Western Governors University. My purpose in completing this program is to be better prepared to move our company into the future of the Accounting Industry. AI and the changing labor market will soon change this industry in ways never seen before. With my career turning more toward management and consulting, my focus is on improving myself just a little bit each and every day, through the information I consume, and the people that I choose to spend my life with.
