I am an Area Manager for Environmental Services at Tower Hamlets Homes, currently dealing with the Southside of the borough. I have worked my way through the system, starting in as a Team Leader, so I have hands-on experience and understanding of the day-to-day issues that are encountered by my staff on the estates of the second poorest borough in London, and the third nationally. To give residents satisfaction of living in a clean and pleasant area is just one of the issues that drives me to succeed in my role. I currently manage 81 staff and can liaise effectively with all levels of staff and management through to CEO. I am conscientious and believe that high standards are only achieved by hard work, of which I lead by example. Firm but fair is the standard I strive to achieve, and I would never ask of my staff something I am not prepared to do myself. I am a great team player and understand the importance of all aiming for the same goal.I have spent 3 months as acting Head of Service, covering managerial secondment. I thrived on the experience and the challenges this role entailed. I have NVQ 2 in Team Leadership and have just completed CMI Level 5 – Certificate in Management and Leadership (QCF). I look forward to the challenge of progressing my way through management structure.
