Conceptual ideas and functionality of objects has always been a main factor that drives me to create three dimensional works that aesthetically looks good and practically works well. I have enjoyed the challenges and demands that smaller scale work has present to me in the form of jewellery but I know that my heart passion and main interest is within larger scale and product based work. Fundamental to creating unusual and creative ideas is the visual research that I source, collate and utilise and this acts as a platform to all my design work. Deriving from images illustrating solid rigid architectural structures as well as organic natural elements has lead to the development of different bespoken pieces in silver and mixed media. The aim for my designs has always been the creation of different statements and pieces which could be seen as innovative, clean aesthetic with a playful undertone which are enhanced by the use precious metals.Parallel to the above I am also embracing my design presentation with the use of specialised programs and I am comfortable and articulate with this technology as it is a useful tool to generate new versatile ideas form 2D into 3 dimensional objects. Therefore I aim to fully utilise this in my degree year as I intend to learn as much as possible and to be inspired and driven from masters in the industry, as this would fuel my ambition to become a successful and renowned designer in silversmithing and product design.
