Over the course of the summer, I participated as an MDOT Co-op student withthe bridge team at the region office for the first half of the summer and joined the team of YDMP facilitators for the second half. While working as a Co-op I was with one of MDOT's bridge inspectors. We had around 30 bridges a month we had to inspect in the Ann Arbor and Monroe area. For the second part of the summer while working as a facilitator for YDMP I was stationed at the Arian garage. I was tasked with going out to meet the different teams of students to make sure they were working safely and had proper PPE on.

Cutting grass, landscaping, rock removal, weed whipping, and watering. Used tractor and/or lawn mower for cuts of five neighboring families.

Jackson, Michigan Area

The TRAC Internship is a program for graduating High School seniors, where students work alongside MDOT Civil Engineers to learn about the challenges and rewards of a career in civil engineering. This was a seven-week program over the summer and I was stationed at the Jackson TSC.

As a team member, in this position I was responsible for the following:- Weeding and removing vegetation around guardrails and road signs - Removing litter - Cleaning rest areas/welcome centers - Performing and maintaining landscaping- Repairing and maintaining rest area features (picnic tables, posts, etc.)- Mowing and maintaining roadside parks and scenic turnouts - Assisting with erosion control measures and cleaning edge drain and culvert outlets- Cleaning vehicles and equipment- Painting park-n-ride posts
