Hello everyone,My name is Nohl La'akea Johnson, and I am a recent graduate of The University of South Carolina, where I earned my Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering in May 2024. After graduation and traveling across the country, I am excited to seek new job opportunities and share my knowledge and skills with a future employer.During my academic journey, I developed strong leadership, communication, and time management skills. I honed my ability to convey complex theories and ideas to diverse audiences through peer support, serving as a supplemental instructor for Calculus II, and working as a TA for both graduate and undergraduate courses. My experience also includes gaining valuable insights into the workings of the fast-paced pharmaceutical industry as an engineering intern.Looking ahead, I aspire to contribute to the biotech field and advance our understanding of how technology can enhance medicine. One area of particular interest to me is cultivated meat. As an undergraduate researcher, I conducted extensive literature reviews on the field’s benefits and challenges, and I developed bioreactor concepts aimed at addressing these bottlenecks.I am an engineer at heart. Solving problems and finding solutions comes as naturally to me as breathing. I excel at understanding intricate details while maintaining a clear view of the bigger picture.I believe that genetic engineering and gene therapy are the technologies of the future, and I hope to play a significant role in their development.
