Wodonga Creek Pumping Station comprises of two separate pump stations on the one site. One dating back pre 1960’s, the other to 1990’s. Our project involves the demolition of the older pump station, construction of a new pump station, modernisation of the remaining pump station, new electrical supply, new river offtake and replacement of a section of supply mains.As this pump station is the only water supply to the Wodonga water treatment plant, works have to be sequenced to ensure a continuous supply of raw water from the site to the water treatment plant.My responsibilities include -- Establish site- Assist in design finalisation and constructability reviews- Engage local suppliers and sub contractors- Liaise with North East Water and CCB project management team- Chair weekly site meeting- Prepare short and medium term construction program- Prepare and maintain site documentation- Review and approve sub contractor work procedures and safety documentation- Plan and coordinate site activities- Coordinate timing of shutdowns with NEW operations- Run daily prestart and toolbox meetings- Issue work permits, including hot works and excavation- Perform site inspections, work activity inspections and SWMS audits - Ensure compliance with site EH&S requirements and Covid 19 safety plan- Report on site activities and progress- Prepare and complete ITP’s- Commissioning and handover of pump station and pipeline

The project involved construction of a site access road, site preparation and concrete works, then construction of a one Megalitre water tank, pump station, chlorination unit, pipelines, high security fencing and repair of existing infrastructure. Completion has ensured a reliable supply of potable water to Auki township. Construction in Auki involved shipping most of the equipment and materials from Australia to Honiara, then via local barge transfer to Auki.My responsibilities included -- Procurement, packing and shipping of plant, equipment, tools and materials- Assist in preparation of detailed construction program- Mobilise to Auki and establish site- Plan and coordinate FIFO for Australian supervisors and foremen- Employment of local Solomon Islands workforce- Negotiate land access and supply of local materials (rock and sand)- Liaise with local Solomon Water staff for access to assets- Run site progress meetings with Solomon Water management, locally in Auki and in Honiara- Prepare weekly progress reports for management team in Australia- Prepare short and medium term construction program- Prepare and maintain site documentation- Plan and coordinate site activities, taking into account weather, access, security and plant availability- Run daily prestart and toolbox meetings- Perform site inspections- Ensure compliance with site EH&S requirements - Prepare and complete ITP’s- Pressure testing and disinfection of pipelines- Commissioning and handover- Demobilisation

I was employed as the Site Manager on the construction of a sand pumping station, pipeline and access road for sand replenishment of Jimmys Beach in Hawks Nest for Mid Coast Council.This area has experienced severe natural erosion over the past several years, threatening coastal houses and roads. The sand transfer system will significantly assist in the control of erosion in these hotspots, being designed to move sand from Winda Woppa Point to Jimmy’s Beach. I was employed by the Water division of Ace Contractors as a Project Manager on the connections program for GMW. I was managing a range of projects including replacement of regulators and meters, installation of pipelines and decommissioning of redundant assets.My responsibilities included -- Preparing tenders- Compiling OHSE documentation- Engaging sub contractors- Developing construction schedule- Site mobilisation and management- Coordinating site activities with John Holland and GMW engineers- Reporting on site construction progress and financials- Meetings with JH and GMW Project Management team- Resolving construction issues- Completing site documentation, including ITP’s and as built drawings- Commissioning and handover

I was employed as the contractors representative on the South Tarawa Sanitation Improvement Sector Project (STSISP).The projects aim was to improve the health of South Tarawa’s population through enhanced access to improved sanitation infrastructure and services.This involved upgrading twenty three sewage and saltwater pump stations, repairing several kilometers of sewer and saltwater reticulation pipelines and installing three new ocean outfalls.My responsibilities included -- Coordinating teams consisting of Australian site managers with local work crews- Reporting progress to project management team locally and in Australia- Coordinating our activities with client side engineers and various Government Departments and Ministries- Representing CCB Envico in dealings with engineering team, Government and donors (ADB)- Coordinating materials deliveries including shipping, import clearances (Customs, Dep of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance) and on island transport- Planning work flow to facilitate timely handover of upgraded system components- Coordinating works with other on island contractors and Government Departments- Preparation of O&M manuals, as built drawings and ITP's for handover- Commissioning and handover of pump stations and networks

I was employed by Goulburn Murray Water on the connections program. GMW Connections is the largest irrigation modernisation project in Australia. An investment of more than $2 billion to create a more efficient automated water delivery network in the Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District. My role was in the decommissioning phase of construction where obsolete channels, structures and outlets are decommissioned or removed.My responsibilities included -- Extracting decom works from landowner legal agreements and entering into the database- Liaising with end to end PM's, modernisation coordinators, land owners and other construction teams on availability, prioritisation and timing of works- Compiling work packs, including work instructions, environmental reports, ITP's and site maps- Issuing work packs and purchase orders to construction crews- Resolving construction issues- Inspection and verification of site works- Reporting on decommissioning activities and progress

I was employed by the water division of Lend Lease Construction and Infrastructure as the Site Manager on the construction of a chemical dosing plant for Sydney Water at Seven Hills, Sydney. The project involved the construction of a chemical dosing plant to dose ferric chloride into the Northern Suburbs Ocean Outfall Sewer (NSOOS) at Seven Hills in Sydney to help control odour and corrosion. The site was located in a high visibility industrial estate. My role was to bring everything together, to ensure the project progressed within program timeline and budget, while maintaining strict safety, environmental and quality standards, along with a professional image of the company and client.My responsibilities included –- Participate in constructability reviews- Provide input into construction methodology - Advise on subcontractor suitability- Plan site layout, with regard to safety, security, environmental and community interaction- Establish site- Engage sub contractors- Liaise with sub contractors, project engineers, safety, environmental and community personnel- Review and approve sub contractor paperwork- Develop short and medium term works programs, in consultation with sub contractors and project engineers- Plan and coordinate site activities- Run daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings- Deliver site inductions- Issue work permits, including hot works, excavation and confined space entry- Maintain site documentation, electronically and hard copy- Perform area inspections, work activity inspections, observation reports and SWMS audits- Complete site ITP’s and quality inspections- Ensure compliance with site EH&S requirements and Lend Lease global minimum requirements

At the end of the Cronulla project I was offered a three month secondment to work on the operations and maintenance contract for Watercare in Auckland. I was taking construction OH&S disciplines to share into the O&M business and in return learning more about the O&M business, in particular the prioritising and dispatch of work and the field based computer system JAMS (Job and Asset Management System). Work on the O&M contract was prioritised based on urgency. Works generally fell into one of two categories. Priority one (P1) work which was urgent (overflows, blockages etc) and had to be responded to within one hour. Priority five (P5) was generally rectification work resulting from P1 responses, required more planning and coordination (engaging sub contractors, liaising with Watercare Engineers, holding planning sessions, arranging permits, traffic management etc) and had to be commenced within two weeks.As Team Leader my role was to work with Lend Lease staff, management and safety, Watercare Engineers, sub contractors, consultants and suppliers to coordinate works, ensuring we met our time based KPI’s, maintained safety standards and projected a positive company image. Employed by the water division of Lend Lease Construction and Infrastructure as the Site Supervisor on a $37M wastewater treatment plant upgrade at Cronulla for Sydney Water. The project included the installation of four BTF vessels, fans and ductwork. Progressive demolition and replacement of the drive support platforms and drives on the primary sedimentation tanks (PST’s). Installation of new helical scum lifters. Remediation and coating of concrete tanks and pump chambers. Refurbishment and replacement of mechanical equipment including drives, chains, flights and electricals. Installation of RE pump station, pumps, pipes and control systems. Installation of trafficable and non-trafficable covers to the entire primary treatment area. My role was to get everyone working together and "make it happen". Abergeldie were responsible for the installation of all mechanical equipment and pipework on the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant at Goodna in QLD. Thiess were the managing contractor, with Queensland Urban Utilities the client. I came on board just as the piping / mechanical stage of the job was kicking off. Time was short (floods had delayed the project), resources were short, many of them very green and the pressure was on!My role was to decipher construction drawings, schedule and allocate tasks and coordinate our work crews so as to avoid clashes with other contractors (it was a very busy site).I was responsible for the installation of chemical dosing equipment, blowers, compressors and driers, chemical dosing lines, airlines, potable water and recycled water lines, connections to equipment and pressure testing. Pipe materials included stainless steel, PVC, ABS, HDPE and copper.I was also the WHSO for Abergeldie and a member of the site safety committee. My responsibilities included - - Scheduling and allocation of daily work activities- Interpretation of construction drawings and P&ID's- Mark out equipment locations and pipe runs- Problem solve construction issues- Supervision of site crews- Liaison with Thiess engineers, supervisors and construction manager- Accurate completion of site records including diaries and variations- Pressure testing pipework- Completing ITP’s- Site WHSO- Safety audits, task inspections, SWMS reviews and incident reports

The Heinz-Watties plant at Girgarre produced tomato paste, sauces, ketchups and mayonnaise with a permanent staff of approximately 85, increasing to 130 during the tomato season from January to April. Engineering staff comprised of eight full time fitters plus contract fitters, electricians, plumbers and off site service providers. My responsibilities included – - Schedule seasonal production plant rebuild- Provide preventive and breakdown maintenance coverage- Resource scheduling and allocation- Liaison with Production Manager over equipment availability- Engage on site and off site subcontractors- Coordination of employees and subcontractors- Supervision of work crews- Condition monitoring of production equipment

Started Plumbing apprenticeship 1982 in family owned business in Queensland. Worked on domestic, commercial and industrial projects including construction project accommodation, schools, commercial properties, factories.Worked for industrial plumbing company in Melbourne as a tradesman, then supervisor, working in universities, chemical and petrochemical plants, installing fume extraction equipment, gas and water lines, chemical lines and dosing equipment.Married in 1991, moved to Kyabram and launched plumbing business. Worked on domestic and industrial projects. New houses and renovations, factory maintenance and minor projects including installation of production equipment, water, waste, steam, air, gas and fire service pipelines and equipment.
