Noelle Yuen has more than three decades of diverse technical and project management experience. Originally a bridge engineer with Caltrans, since 1991 she has focused her career on buildings, including institutional and civic buildings, transit stations, hospitals, and seismic retrofit and renovation projects. Noelle has led a range of design and retrofit projects for health care and institutional buildings and has designed many Bay Area structures, including Caltrans highway bridges, the BART station at East Dublin/Pleasanton, Kaiser Hospital Vallejo, UC Berkeley Bowles Hall, and San Quentin State Prison and Folsom State Prison Seismic Rehabilitation Projects. She currently leads the firm's efforts in seismic evaluations and retrofits at UC Santa Cruz, UC San Francisco, and UC San Diego. Noelle has special expertise in seismic design, high rise peer review, and plan check. She has directed structural reviews of healthcare facilities throughout California (for the state agency OSHPD) and structural plan checks in San Francisco and San Diego. Since 2002, she has conducted seismic peer reviews of more than 30 tall building structures in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Jose, Seattle, and Bellevue. In her reviews, Noelle works to establish a collegial and responsive relationship that includes the building authority, the design team, and owners. Noelle brings a combination of technical excellence, good listening skills, and reliable service to her projects. She especially loves learning new things, and is currently enjoying learning about wastewater treatment plants as she works on projects with SFPUC.
