Working as a packaging design engineer.

In my role I specialized in designing and manufacturing of tubular systems for the aerospace industry. I worked on the planning and processing steps of parts and assemblies including routing, work orders and reworks using my knowledge of engineering configuration requirements and quality control. My problem solving skills came into play often with Reworks of parts that we find issues with, in which I exercised my skills to implement solutions. I developed Work Instructions for multiple machines in the Shop and in that process I took into consideration plant safety and the tooling and production flow of our Operators. At Altis I utilized programs like CATIA V5 and VTUBE for modeling of parts, assemblies and fixtures for welding and machining of parts. I also used E2, ERP software that tracks products through their lifecycle and allows me to create and distribute data to various components of the company. This position has challenged me to prioritize and learn how to best satisfy the customer, especially when we receive multiple purchase orders at once that need to be routed and out to the shop with enough time to manufacture with good quality and ship by or before the due date.

At this position I worked on a product design team for various military aircraft control systems, including fly-by-wire systems. I was developing new designs and solutions to problems seen in the flight controls and documenting/presenting the changes to customers. I also spent an ample amount of time learning the specifications for the government and different customers. I used a PLM program called Windchill to read blueprints, manage BOM’s and to create Change Requests while tracing parts. This role helped familiarize me with different standards and documentation for the engineering community. It gave me a strong grasp of production procedures and planning. I left this role in May of 2017 because my husband was given a Permanent Change of Station to Fort Stewart for the US Army, however he is now in the process of chaptering out.
