Covered the three-month occupation of Dewey Square by Occupy Boston, an offshoot of Occupy Wall Street, writing commentary on the characterization of protesters as anarchists, seeking expert commentary on freedom of speech, the right to assemble, and the history of the American protest movement, and reporting on the month long legal battle between occupiers and the City of Boston.

As an environmental research intern, I researched and answered questions posted by the public in a variety of areas related to the environment. This position gave me the opportunity to hone my research and fact checking skills, practice the art of paraphrasing, and delve into some fascinating topics that I never would have stumbled across.This is an eight-week long internship.

I concentrated on Environmental Management as a field of study. I studied issues ranging from carbon footprints, to wetland protection, to indoor air quality, to greenhouse gas emissions in a three-semester series of courses in environmental management. Additionally I completed many environmental courses including: environmental justice, global climate change, ecology, ocean environments and environmental ethics.Reaching beyond Harvard's campus, I attended Brownfield 2006 conferences and wrote a paper on the successful reclamaition of three Massachusetts brownfields in Brockton, New Bedford and Hull. I traveled to Delaware to research the political battle over an offshore windfarm. I wrote acclaimed papers detailing field trips to: the North River Wildlife Sancutary, the New England Aquarium, Pleasant Bay, and Hubbard Hill.I wrote research papers on Tuvalu, population growth, the future of coal, and wind power in Delaware. Under the instruction of journalist David Ropeik, I wrote articles on the HPV vaccine, energy diversification, risk perception, and cost benefit analysis while studying critical thinking about environment and public health.In addition to meeting the rigorous writing standards that are stressed in all Harvard courses, I excelled in writing intensive courses in ecology, religion, and philosophy. I have completed additional coursework in expository, non-fiction, and feature writing.
