I am a passionate writer, instructional designer, and former educator with over 13 years’ experience in the education and healthcare fields. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Literacy, as well as certification as a Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Supervisor.I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I was about 3 years old, when I would "teach" my dolls and stuffed animals (and at times an unenthusiastic younger brother). I had an innate ability to connect with people from a very young age and decided to pursue that in my career. My goal as an educator was to make a difference in the lives of my students, while equipping each child with the tools to reach their full potential now and throughout life. I was known for building safe, supportive relationships and growing confidence in my students while tailoring content to meet their unique individual needs. I was frequently approached by colleagues for support around pedagogy and technology and I enjoyed the challenge of reaching brains of all ages and learning styles.But...the more time I spent in the classroom, the more my eyes opened to the developmental and social emotional needs of my students. This led me to a career shift into mental healthcare, where I worked in professional relations at a behavioral health treatment center. Through this opportunity, I honed my communication skills and connected the community with resources through marketing, outreach, education, and advocacy. While this role held a piece of my career transition puzzle, over time I realized that my heart still lies in a more creative and hands on role of helping people. I am motivated to continue creating resources to make content accessible to learners of all ages and learning styles.My career highlights include developing curriculum, building relationships, and training various audiences, as well as designing informative and strategic content for blogs, newsletters, and social channels. I possess superb writing, editing, and design skills, and am well versed in emerging trends related to human learning. The seed of a transition into instructional design was planted during the “Great Pandemic Pivot of 2020,” while I thrived responding to new curriculum challenges and finding innovative ways to present material to my learners during a very challenging and high stress time for families.I am now ready to bring all of these skills and experiences to a new position and excited to turn the page in my career and see what the next chapter will bring!
