Responsible for all commercial, financial, legal, reporting, IT and property aspects of a dynamic portfolio of client and own sites. The turnover of a business unit was c. £125m. Reporting functionally to the Finance Director whilst working closely with Business Unit Directors, providing decision support and ensuring the integrity of reporting and operational efficiency at sites. Coordinating a team of c. 12 direct reports and a total department of c. 50. Responsible for up to 4 business units at any time.

Burton-Upon-Trent

• Controlled all commercial aspects of the establishment of the then largest automated warehouse solution in the UK from bid to live operations. Defined and agreed KPI measurements.• Liaised with client and operational management to produce budgets for capital, start-up, revenue and transition.• Managed tender processes for multiple purchases of capital equipment and services ensuring selections were transparent and in line with the client’s ethical and commercial policies.• Developed exhaustive operational procedures for all administrative elements of the site.• Recruited, trained and managed a finance team of 10 and a stock administration team of 22.

Maltby

• Managed a finance team of 8 responsible for the production of weekly accounts and operational statistics for 2 warehouse and 4 transport locations.• Reviewed operational effectiveness and cost with local teams and customer representatives to drive performance and ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.• Enhanced supplier conformance to secure a smooth transition to automated NDC operations employing league tables and ad hoc reporting and addressing supplier conferences.
