About Noah Haggerty
I'm a science journalist with a background in clean energy research. My work focuses on the intersection of science, the environment, and activism. As a feature writer, I aim to make science accessible and share stories of resilience — from the researchers queering video games to how ski resorts are adapting to climate change. As editor-in-chief of Northeastern's student-run science magazine, NU Sci, I work to create a space for students to learn and practice science journalism and provide a platform to publish their work. I'm also a contributing writer for the Northeastern College of Science and the Northeastern Science Media Lab. I've run the mentorship program at the university's Society of Physics Students and acted as a student representative and advocate at Northeastern Physics Department and College of Science DEI panels and meetings. In my research, I've contributed to R&D efforts for fusion reactor plasma heating methods at the Department of Energy–funded DIII-D National Fusion Facility. I've also worked on isotope enrichment for medical and nuclear energy applications at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and electromagnetic spacecraft thrusters at the Batishchev Plasma Laboratory.
