Being raised in a construction family, I worked my way from fetching tools for Dad to managing a small crew by the age of 17. Valuable lessons of leadership and teamwork were learned as we faced construction problems together. At Age 18, I moved to Santiago Chile for two years of service as a full-time volunteer representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This provided many more opportunities for engaging leadership. In addition, I acquired strong organizational and time management skills. Those skills have carried over to my current employment with Dick Anderson Construction as a heavy equipment operator. My current job has provided me with hands-on learning opportunities with civil construction processes and will continue to yield relevant experience for my future career as a civil engineer.
