Nolan’s practice experience is diverse and multifaceted. He has litigated civil and administrative disputes under, or counseled clients regarding, the Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act; Endangered Species Act; Federal Rivers and Harbors Appropriations Act; National Environmental Policy Act; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; and equivalent laws of various states. Beyond his environmental practice, Nolan has developed a sub-focus on appellate practice and amassed a wide range of general business litigation experience. He has briefed or presented oral argument in well over twenty-four appeals, involving varied substantive issues, throughout Texas state appellate courts, United States appellate courts throughout the country, and the United States Supreme Court. Nolan otherwise has litigated matters involving matters as far ranging as 28 U.S.C. § 1782 actions to obtain discovery for use in foreign judicial proceedings, asset recovery actions, trademark disputes, insurance coverage disputes, business tort claims, corporate tax litigation, breach of contract claims, landlord/tenant disputes, discrimination claims based on state and federal law, and claims based on the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Nolan also benefits from a unique perspective and appreciation for civil and criminal practice in the federal court system, as he spent a year as judicial law clerk for United States District Judge Sam A. Lindsay, of the Northern District of Texas.
