In my current role at Siemens I travel nationally to resolve clinical issues with Siemens diagnostic products. I also install and resolve software and I.T issues with the diagnostics platforms.I am responsible for a range of products including Immunoassay, Biochemistry, Plasma proteins , virology systems and other speciality products.

I provide technical support for the Advia chemistry analyzer product range and the Dade Behring Dimension product range. The job involves troubleshooting problems with analyzer hardware and assay performance. My work involves deciding when to refer issues to field service personnel or escalate product issues to third level support or scientific specialist.

I started work at St Richards as a trainee biomedical scientist, and attended Portsmouth University once a week on a three year degree programme in applied biomedical science.My training was based in clinical biochemistry where I use Beckman coulter DXC 800 general chemistry analyser as well as Beckman coulter DXI 880 immunoassay system.I also have been trained in other manual techniques to determine the presence of Xanthochromia in CSF, electrophoresis, HbA1c analysis.I also have spent time working in other disciplines to further my knowledge and aid me during my studies at Portsmouth.

Working on a full time basis I was responsible under supervision of the duty pharmacist for preparing and dispensing prescription medicines.I also used the pharmacy stock control system as well as enter patient data onto the pharmacy computer.

Working on a one year DEFRA contract in a SAPO 4 containment facility analysing herd animal blood for the presence of foot and mouth virus. The analysis was carried out using a manual ELISA technique.Whilst working at the Animal Health Trust I was given the opportunity to further my knowledge of laboratory techniques, such as PCR, virus neutralization tests. Cell culture and routine veterinary blood testing, and equine influenza testing.; I am the neighbourhood watch co-ordinator for my area.
