Worked as a research assistant under Timothy Hallstrom studying the UHRF2 protein and it's role in cell apoptosis. To study the UHRF2 protein, the lab works with mouse and cellular models. My main tasks as a lab assistant are to execute bench top research under the supervision of Huarui Lu. These tasks included; gel electrophoresis, PCR, DNA purification, DNA extraction, DNA amplification, creating static cultures, and isolating single colonies from agar plates.

Worked as a CNA at Prairie Community Services for 2.5 years. Main job duty was to provide patient centered care to the consumers who live in the home. This included giving medications, exercising, assisting in activities of daily living, etc.

As a freshman and sophomore in college I worked in a laboratory under the Principle Investigator Chandy John. The lab's focus was the sequestration of the parasite Plasmodium falciparum, which is the most prevalent parasite that causes malaria. As a research assistant my main duties were to maintain a cleanly lab environment, perform IgG and Cytokine ELISA's, maintain a professional laboratory notebook, analyze data via Excel and STATA, and research new developments in malaria research and present my findings in front of a small group. During my time at this lab I also applied for an Undergraduate Research Opportunity (UROP). Through this I obtained funding to perform my own research project titled "Characterizing the Effects of Inflammation on Iron Deficiency Biomarkers in Ugandan Children." Unfortunately towards the end of 2014, Chandy John got a offer he could not turn down from Indiana University, and ended up moving the lab to Indiana to start a global health initiative there.
