I have worked in the medical field for almost 4 years now in various roles. I have experience with surgery, the medical-surgical units, the coronary care unit, the intensive care unit, and the emergency department. I have gained many skills through these experiences such as time management and organization. I am personable and get along with patients well. I help to convey what the doctor says to the patient in a way that they can better understand. I am looking to pursue a career in emergency room nursing. This is due to my experience with my capstone in my last semester of nursing school at the University of Louisville. This experience showed me how important it is for nurses to keep composure during stressful situations. Also, it taught me a multitude of skills that I will carry over into my nursing practice. Throughout college, I have maintained a greater than 3.5 GPA and attained Cum Laude awards. I am currently working as a Nurse Extern PACER. I am one of 10 people accepted into this program. With this, I have earned a greater amount of responsibility. I perform nursing tasks with the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Before my current role, I was a Patient Care Technician. This role showed me a different side of health care. In this role, I was able to connect a lot more with a wider variety of patients. Also, I was able to assist these patient's with their activities of daily living which gave me a better perspective on what families go through in the hospital. I am currently looking for a position in the emergency department. I am looking for a great work environment with team-oriented staff. Also, I am looking for a nursing job that can allow for growth in the field of nursing. I love to learn new things and gain new experiences. Also, I am looking for a job where I can move into a leadership role. I have always wanted to be a charge nurse as I get more experience in the nursing profession. Thank you!
