I am a Data Scientist at BC Assessment, specializing in using R and SQL to extract, transform, analyze and communicate insights from large, complex datasets. During my career, I have also developed skills in building machine learning models, including lasso and ridge regression, random forests and gradient boosting machines to generate substantial value and cost savings for BC Assessment through anomaly detection and regression modeling. In addition to my technical skills, I also have strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills. I have experience presenting and explaining complex statistical analysis and machine learning models, both on my own and with a team, to people throughout BC Assessment, including Senior Executives, Directors, fellow Data Scientists and Junior Staff. A fellow Data Scientist and I at BC Assessment also won a company wide award this year for "innovation, passion and dedication."Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, cycling, swimming, writing and playing bridge. My fiancee and I hiked the West Coast Trail and the Juan de Fuca Trail last year, and I recently co-authored an article in Alberta Views magazine called "Break the Bank-Should Alberta Sell ATB?"For more information about me, please contact me on LinkedIn, and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
