In this role, I worked with amazing people across the organization as we reimagined and streamlined business processes in each functional area. This work focused on achieving greater efficiency and an improved member experience. In addition, I continued to oversee the credit granting and collection functions of the Credit Union including adjudication, policy and procedure development, and business development.

As the Manager, Retail & Commercial Lending I had the privilege of working with an amazing team of retail and commercial lenders who were dedicated to the success and well-being of our member-owners. In addition to coaching, mentoring, and training, I adjudicated credit applications, provided direction on policy and procedure, and oversaw the Credit Union's collection practices. Through effective business development practices, I also championed promotion and development of the loan portfolio.

- Analyzed commercial and consumer credit requests and make credit decisions based on the information available and the Credit Union's established credit granting policies. - Worked with Financial Consultants and Business Account Managers in a consultative and advisory capacity to ensure that borrower's needs are being met with the products and services offered. - Ensured that the Credit Union's Service Mission and Service Promises are being met in each transaction.- Developed, recommended, and rolled out lending procedures for use within the commercial and consumer business streams.- Facilitated scheduled refresher sessions for Financial Consultants to ensure that regular professional development is taking place.- Acted as a resident expert for all lending products, activities, and documentation.- Acted as the Credit Union's primary lending resource throughout the conversion to the DNA core banking system including development of a comprehensive procedure manual and liaising with various third party suppliers

Coached, mentored, and inspired a diverse team of Financial Consultants and Service Specialists to "build rewarding relationships through a superior service experience." Actively engaged with team members' professional development through coaching and mentoring in order to leverage individual strengths and develop action plans around opportunities for growth. Inspired team members to ensure that personal, team, branch and corporate goals were surpassed.

Provided overall management of the branch’s operation including personal lending, deposits, memberships, wealth management, and profitability. By managing, coaching and inspiring staff, met branch and team objectives and activities to achieve superior member experiences, optimal business retention, growth and productivity. Provided on-going coaching and development of staff while ensuring a high level of employee capability through focused leadership routines. Championed community involvement dedicated to expanding the Credit Union’s role as a financial services leader and a valued corporate citizen.

Proactively developed relationships with various business contacts including business owners, mortgage brokers, real estate agents, developers and solicitors. Effectively leveraged those relationships to support double-digit growth in the business lending portfolio. Gained additional exposure to the hospitality industry and construction finance through support of several large projects. Managed a portfolio of 60 diverse accounts totaling approximately $70 million.

Managed a full service branch in a single industry community driven by coal production. Actively involved in significant human resource shift related to the development and execution of the Financial Service Officer model. Managed the collection activities for the branch, as well as the internal loan audit function for all three branches.

Managed two full service branches in Northern Alberta communities dominated by forestry, agriculture, and oil and gas support industries during an economic downturn. Continued to foster growth within the consumer loan portfolios while reducing operating expenses to maintain branch profitability. Actively managed significant collection activity including several residential foreclosures and numerous other retail repossessions.

Progressed through NPSCU's Commercial Account Manager trainee program, being assigned a portfolio within 6 months. Took on progressively more complex portfolios and accounts in a variety of industries including trucking, oil and gas support services, cow/calf operations, and forestry.
