As part of the spacecraft engineering team at Maxar, I take part in ensuring the health and safety of Maxar's Earth-imaging satellite constellation. My primary responsibility is that of translating the ground system commanding code from a proprietary C-based language to Python in a Linux-based environment. I use unit testing, simulation testing, and GitHub as a version-control/validation tool to ensure the code will perform as intended. I also take part in anomaly diagnosis and resolution; using state of health telemetry to identify malfunctions and work with my team to design and implement a solution.

Netfor is a Fishers, Indiana based technical support firm contracted by companies to supply the hardware, software, and technical support that enables the company to function on a daily basis. One such company was The UPS Store which consisted of over 5000 stores within the United States alone. As an over the phone technical support analyst, I assisted employees of The UPS Store with daily technical issues including problems with the proprietary software, printers, in store networking equipment, billing software, and more. Using a database of over 3000 resolution articles, I would remote into the caller’s computer to find and resolve the issues. I also had access to an onsite lab which allowed me to go hands on with the systems that were in place at the stores to find solutions to more complicated issues.

As the IT intern at Mays Chemical, I was given 2 projects to complete over the summer. The first was to create a tutorial for the billing software they used so that new hires could quickly learn the ropes. This required me to meet with co-workers who knew the system in and out and learn from them so I could implement the knowledge into the tutorial. My second project was a digital sign system for the lobby and break room. In order to achieve this, I researched different software and chose the one that fit our needs the best, then talked with upper management to find out what information should be displayed. Both projects were completed and implemented during the 8-week internship. Other than these projects, I also helped with general IT work such as computer installation, troubleshooting, and server upkeep.
