Senior Biological Data Analyst
CurrentFacilitate outstanding research by providing scientists with support in statistical analyses, experimental design, simple software development, and analytical education, communicating results and collaborating with experimentalists, biologists, engineers and stakeholders, while developing the bioanalytical team.- Hire, oversee and manage a small team of biological data analysts ( 3 Analysts). Prioritize and manage day to day duties, provide guidance and direction for statistical analysis data cleaning and upstream pre-processing.- put organizational systems in place to streamline collaboration between experimentalists and bioanalytical team. - Perform data management, pre and post-processing, and statistical analysis in collaboration with Principal Investigators for complex research projects.- Assist in experimental design to minimize confounders and maximize biological insight and hypothesis testing to inform research and operational decisions. - Perform quality control and quality assurance on datasets by performing diagnostic analyses and reviewing results for anomalies. Investigate to determine cause and makes suggestions and corrections if necessary.- Create concise and informative, static and dynamic data visualizations to display results or inform research decisions.- Designed and implemented a course for research staff to teach them the basics of the statistical programming language R, strengthening the statistical foundation and computational literacy of the institute.- Assists in writing research papers for publication.- Engineered three self-contained Rshiny apps that are being used regularly by the scientific and administrative staff that streamline daily analyses, allowing them to complete work in hours which would normally take days.- Evaluates recommends and implements procedures for data management and quality control. Develop input methodology and data file structure. Oversee data entry and maintenance of data files.
