I contribute to the equitable understanding and distribution of trees and green spaces across the UK. Through the implementation of the Tree Equity Score tool, developed in collaboration with American Forests, I facilitated the identification of disparities in urban tree cover, density, and distribution. My role involves collecting essentialdata from urban area to produce targets and guidelines for urban tree reforestation across the country.Accomplishments:- Contributed and collaborated on a team of 50 volunteers to complete 500 tree canopy cover assessments of urban areas across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland- Produced 22/500 tree canopy cover assessments, each of which required analysis of over 300 data points- Ensuring precise and timely submission of assessment findings to contribute to the Woodland Trust’s database for policy advisories- Processed and synthesized remote sensing data of the UK to measure and assess levels of urban tree cover, increasing understanding of tree equity scores

In collaboration with Dr Lydia Cole, senior lecturer in Environmental Geography I have surveyed available information regarding sustainable travel policies for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK through online database research and interviews. Producing a critical review of these HEI policies, I have produced an advisory plan for the university to reduce carbon emissions to meet the Net Zero Target by 2035 and address EDI issues.Accomplishments:Produced a policy brief regarding the state of sustainable international university travel which will be delivered in a presentation to the University of St Andrews Principal’s Office and Procurement OfficesCatalogued sustainable travel policy data and producing a condensed report regarding success and failure rates, evaluating the possibilities for policy growth within the University of St AndrewsDirected extensive research into the sustainable travel policy for HEIs in the UK
