Under the direction of Dr. Shah Hossain, I am a clinical research assistant on a clinical trial that investigates the short-term outcomes of neonates and mothers after cesarean section. I assisted in the preparation of the IRB proposal in addition to performing literature review, medical record review and statistical analysis.

As a participant in the Pediatric Oncology Education Program I worked directly under Dr. Liquan Xue in a lab that studies the chromosomal abnormalities of MLL-rearranged infantile ALL and AMKL in non-Down syndrome patients. My project focused on studying epigenetic complex gene mutations in AMKL patients. I validated mutations in the PCR2 complex genes in AMKL patient samples and laid down the groundwork to study these mutated proteins in vitro.

I performed my Honors Biology Senior Thesis Research under Dr. Bronwyn "Heather" Bleakley, where I used the guppy as a molecular model to study indirect genetic effects (IGEs) mechanisms of social learning.

I participated in the SUCCESS program, a summer research program hosted by the Ohio State University Medical Scientist Training Program. In Dr. Micheal Ostrowski's Lab I I performed Breast cancer research examining how the presence of Protein Kinase C β in the tumor microenvironment aids in cancer progression by determining relative expression levels of this gene in mammary gland fibroblasts and epithelial cells of PyMT and wildtype mice. This research involved dissection, cell culture, RNA isolation, and quantitative PCR.
