Through the DURIP program, I had the opportunity to investigate the relationship between public opinion and climate change, more specifically how party identification, religion, and educational attainment, influence individual beliefs on the degree to which climate change is caused by anthropogenic factors and the degree to which the government should address climate change through regulatory policies. I worked in coordination with the Chair of the Minnesota Political Science Department, Professor Paul Goren. This project allowed me to strengthen my analytical and critical thinking skills by conducting (among other things) a broad literature review on public opinion as it relates to climate change all while developing and executing a research design and plan. I gained experience in bivariable and multivariable categorical data analytics and presented my findings to faculty and staff in the Political Science Department.
