Mad Mona from Victoria BC, formerly known as Ramblerspeak, have taken on a new name to encompass their revamped sound and dynamic. The band has moved away from their folk roots to steer towards a heavier, alternative rock approach. Currently working in the studio with producer/engineer Malcom Owen-Flood, each new song that is in the process of being recorded has been written by a different member of the band. It has been their collaborative efforts that shifted their music in a new direction, by combining their expansive musical and personal backgrounds. Mad Mona is delivering rock music with lyrical and emotional depth. Their brand new single “HER” shows a side to Norah Erickson that hasn’t been displayed as open before in her music until now. This song was an exploration in writing about herself and not holding back. “I came out as gay in 2013, then and now, music has always been the major way that I was able to cope with the realization and process of being honest with myself.” With new music on the horizon, Mad Mona is writing to break out of the norm and taking control of what they want to write.
