I do inspections to feed businesses in Finland. My job is to evaluate how well businesses cover legislation requirements. During inspections I check their self-monitoring plan, sampling plan, hazard analysis of critical control points (HACCP) and do a tour to check how does it look like in the factory.Feed section is very versatile including feed factories, pet food manufacturers, food operators, mining and animal by-products (ABPs). I also coordinate organic feed section and genetically modified (GMO) feed section.Currently I am working in a project to rebuild the website of Feed Section in ruokavirasto.fi.

What could be more important than taking care of pollinators?I am a passionate beekeeper concerned about pollinator decline (and so should you be). All the news about bee colonies collapsing and the amount of flying insects decreasing made me worried. “What could I do for them?” So I decided to become a beekeeper.I protect a rare bee breed called Nordic dark bees (Apis mellifera mellifera). It is our native honey bee in Finland. Only 1 % of our beekeepers have that specific breed, so it is truly endangered. My degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics gives me an unique opportunity to be part of the small team saving the Nordic dark bees.

I worked as a buyer in agribusiness and retail company. I managed a product portfolio of technical farming accessories such as moisture meters, fencing accessories, drinking bowls, fans and security cameras. I did international business with 40 suppliers from Europe, North America and Asia. I arranged cost-efficient logistics and stock management for products.I hold the budget responsibility of farming accessories. I did the product pricing and selling to 70 retailer stores. I planned marketing for end-customers with our marketing team. Print marketing included advertising in agriculture related magazines. Digital marketing included website, Facebook and Instagram updating and advertising. I did the product presentations in fair stands. I also wrote professional articles to agricultural newspapers, magazines and blogs.My former employer Lantmännen Agro is an agribusiness company. It sells machinery, grain, fuel, feed and farming accessories to 70+ retailer stores, which are owned by individual entrepreneurs. Lantmännen Agro is owned by Swedish Lantmännen Ek För. Lantmännen Agro is agribusiness which used to be part of Kesko Oyj and Rautakesko Oy and I worked in all of these companies.

My work duties included product development (R&D), marketing and sales of complementary feed and feed additives. The end-users were both pets and agricultural/farm animals. I assisted with sourcing the raw materials and did stock management of my products. I was responsible of budgeting, sales to retailers and profitability.Working in a family owned medical business taught me a lot of manufacturing medical products, dietary supplements and feed. Everything from R&D to sales and marketing happened at the same yard. This gave an extraordinary chance to learn about the product life cycle.

I tested and did product development (R&D) of on-farm welfare assessment protocols (Welfare Quality) for fur animals in Swedish speaking part of Finland. I did advising of fur animal breeders in production management based on the results.

Budget management, strategic planning, making applications for funding, customer service, coordinating youth services (e.g. petting zoo and 4H-dogsitter service, which includes 200 youngsters). I began working in 4H as a dogsitter in 2004, thus I had a long and successful career in 4H (non-profit organization).
