- consulting (external): performance tuning of legacy MES installations (for example LCDworks, Xsite, FACTORYworks, CELLworks, ...) and consulting on product integration and custom extensions.- technical leadership (internal): analysis of product integration and performance issues, review of software design in particular with regards to potential scalabillity and performance problems, software performance reviews, test plans and execution.

- Manage and provide technical leadership to the MES FrameWork Team with members in the US, India and Korea.- Manage and provide technical leadership to the MES Performance Engineering Team in Chennai, India.- Manage and provide technical leadership to the CELLworks Engineering team in Chennai, India.

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the MES Performance Engineering Team including design and execution of HW vendor and customer specific test suites at Sun Microsystems and Hewlett Packard performance test centers.- Design a new / enhanced performance measurement tool kit geared towards FACTORYworks v3 capabilities and features, for example the ThinClient Framework and the TC-based Operator Client.- Modify / enhance the model used for FACTORYworks v2 hardware sizing for better alignment with FACTORYworks v3 hardware needs.- Design enhancements to make the new performance measurement toolkit available also on the Windows, in particular Windows Server 2003.- Manage the day-to-day operations of the MES FrameWork Team, including software development life cycle and critical customer support.- Manage the design and development of FrameWork enhancements for FACTORYworks v3, including run-time configurable DTPFsrv executable for FACTORYworks functional modules and “C-like” server-side business rules.- Manage migration of FACTORYworks HDB (Historical Database) code for the FACTORYworks Reporting Solution from v2.5 to v3.- Deliver FW2.5 beta on schedule for customers participating in the early adopter / beta release program.- Manage the design / development of new FrameWork features, for example support for using dynamically loaded shared objects instead of static libraries.

- Support FACTORYworks deployments or upgrades at key customers including MEMC, Fujitsu, Micron, LSI, Philips and Siemens.- Lead the design and implementation of FACTORYworks extension modules MBOM and WOM to enable usage of the FACTORYworks MES in electronics assembly plants.- Enhance the FACTORYworks RULEsrv module and create a FACTORYworks application management utility (CELLman and shell scripts).- Major contributor to design and implementation of several new CELLworks features and enhancements, for example the ALS package for multi-byte character support, the support for dynamically loadable custom modules in CELLman (LCALL) and several custom rules modules (libfilio.so, libfwts.so), a plain-text editor and translator for CELLman programs (CELLtran), an “in-memory” database service (RT_DATAsrv), and the CELLtalk application managing / monitoring tools CELLguide/CELLrun and RUNsrv.- Design and implement an extension of the FASTech proprietary MBX message queue system allowing PC / Windows programs to communicate with CELLworks / FACTORYworks servers running on UNIX (PCMBX).- Port of the core components of the X11 Windowing System to the QNX Real-Time Operating System.

- Complete redesign of the graphical user interface for Eaton’s line of Ion Implanters and implementation of this interface using the X11 Windows system and Motif user interface toolkit, including custom extensions of the Motif toolkit.- Manage the software development process for all GUI components of the Ion Implanter control software.- Provide technical leadership and day-to-day operations management for the GUI software team.

Prime Computer, headquartered in Bedford, MA, continued the development of the AUTOPLAN and AUTOBOARD software packages for PCB design and automatic routing optimization after acquiring ComputerVision Corp. in 1987:- Participating in the design and implementation of the SunView / RGS based graphical user interface for the AUTOBOARD product.

Several engagements as software developer with different German and US software companies, in particular:- Participating in the port of AUTOPLAN and AUTOBOARD software from Prime Computer hardware and PrimOS (mainframe) operating system to Sun Microsystems workstations and SunOS (UNIX) operating system at ComputerVision’s R&D Department (formerly GRADO Software GmbH), Munich, Germany.- Participating in the development of the AUTOPLAN and AUTOBOARD products for PCB design and automatic routing optimization at GRADO Software GmbH, Munich, Germany.
