Following my return to Hungary, I started working with a language school and gave courses at several large companies such as TNT, HungEXPO and Deutsche Bank. During this time, I dug deep into teaching/learning methods/concepts (neuro- and psycho linguistics, learning methodologies) and created my own system, that aimed to teach the students how they can learn a language by themselves. I created this blog so I could combine my cooking skills with my passion for writing. I have published over 100 recipes and the reviews I’ve received gave me confidence but also taught me how to take and deal with critique. I found that having a good recipe is not enough alone, if it cannot be understood well and easily. Ingredients have to be in a clear order, defining the right amount of time is also important, so are precise instructions, it’s just like writing an action plan. Apart from making coffee, this job taught me how to communicate with people from all walks of life. The store was in a very busy location (Central London), we usually served several hundreds of customers in just about two hours in the morning. Our measure of satisfaction was the number of regular customers, this number was 90-95% in our case. The connections I have built here led me to my next job.

Moving to another country started out as a great challenge, but it has opened new possibilities too, as this was the place where I started teaching English later on. This kitchen was very different from my previous experiences, because it was a central kitchen where everything had to be ready on time for delivery. To overcome this, I had to learn how to optimise every single task. I applied these optimisations to my everyday life too, which has made more efficient.

My responsibilities included preparing the food, I started to learn how to serve dishes and I cooked the staff meal, this taught me about teamwork. In order to maintain consistency, the staff often doesn’t rotate which can mean working 14-16 hours a day. This has helped me become more resilient, furthermore, the unique situation this created helped me get better insight into other peoples’ struggles.
