· Analyze and determine optimum routing for all cargo consistent with the contract of purchase while meeting deadlines in a cost efficient manner; · Negotiate national and international freight rates for all modes of transport; · Book import shipments and follow up merchandise from point of origin to final destination; · Follow up, verify, prepare and distribute shipping documents to the appropriate parties (Customs dept., Warehouse, Accounting dept., forwarders, customs brokers etc.); · Update and send daily shipment status report to interested parties; · Follow up on receiving and forward them together with appropriate back up documentation to accounting department; · Prepare back up documents, verify and approve freight invoices; · Set up logistics procedures, as well as assist other departments in establishing or enforcing companywide procedures; · Create and maintain transport and freight statistics and make recommendations as needed; · Other transportation-related tasks as they arise; · Participate in the Management Committee.
