-Coordinate the Violence against Women (VAW) agenda of the IDB´s Citizen Security Cluster.-Design and apply instruments and platforms to improve the collection, analysis, and use of information on VAW in America and the Caribbean. -Design and implement projects to: improve the police and justice response to survivors of VAW; mainstream gender in the police and justice policies and institutions; change social norms on VAW; improve women safety in public spaces; and empower women including economic empowerment to break the violence cycle. -Conduct research on the situation on VAW in the Region and its determinants as well as on the best practices and promising programs. -Create awareness and foster an increased and coordinated response to VAW from governments, the media, civil society, and the private sector.

-Provide technical support to the Regional System of Standardized Citizen Security and Violence Prevention Indicators in Latin America and the Caribbean. Created in 2008, the System is composed by LAC 20 countries and two cities. -Co-authored the IDB study on Crime and Violence Observatories in Latin American and the Caribbean and supported its coordination, products’ design and elaboration, and following up with the other team members.-Co-organized the 2013 Sub-regional and 2014 Regional Policy Dialogue on Citizen Security, in Brazil and Mexico respectively. In the meetings, Citizen Security Ministers, Vice-Ministers and other Authorities of the Region exchanged experiences and shared challenges on the design and implementation of policies to prevent violence. -Participate in IDB initiatives towards improving the availability, quality and reliability of crime and violence data in the Region, as well as fostering its use in the formulation and monitoring of public policies.

-Co-led the coordination, development, and implementation of the comprehensive orientation program for IDB new employees ONBoard@IDB: a) conceptualization of the program, its underlying principles, approach, and design; b) definition of procedures for training activities; c) instructional and content design of online courses about the Bank, its operations, and functioning; d) organization of trainings and seminars for new employees; and e) Program promotion, communication, and establishment of strategic partnerships with Bank units.-Participated in the instructional design and implementation of the online course on Managing for Development Results (MfDR) for sub national governments in Latin America and the course to train the trainers on MfDR.

-Identified and documented good practices and promising programs on citizen security from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname for the UNDP human development report. -Technical meetings facilitated to integrate national data and background papers into the regional analyses on police, state policies, youth violence and resilience, street gangs and organized crime, and criminal justice systems.

-Co-authored the report on key findings and recommendations to improve housing options, opportunities and success for youth leaving the foster care system in New York City. -Designed and conducted interviews, surveys, and focus groups with foster care agencies, youth in foster care, housing providers, youth advocates, and NYC government agencies

-Conducted research and analytical work; gathered state-of-the-art knowledge on performance national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems in twelve Latin American countries.

- Supported the planning and implementation of the Good Practice Expo, held in the framework of the 2010 UNFPA Global Meeting. The Expo showcased successful initiatives in reproductive and maternal health, crisis prevention, human rights promotion, and gender-based violence reduction.

-Participated in the formulation and implementation of the Spain-UN-MDG Fund Program (UNDP, ILO, UNODC, UNICEF, UN-HABITAT, and UNESCO) “security with citizenship: preventing violence and strengthening citizenship in Brazilian communities with emphasis in children and adolescents”.-Provided technical inputs to the Brazil Country Office strategy on knowledge management and citizen security.-Produced and adapted knowledge tools on citizen security to the Brazilian context.-Conducted research and analytical work, drafted and presented to donors a project to reduce armed violence.

Bogotá, Colombia

-Led and expanded UNDP’s citizen security technical support services in Latin America; identified, designed, and implemented technical cooperation projects at local, sub National, and National level.-Represented UNDP in workshops and delivered presentations to UN officers, country counterparts, and other key stakeholders to promote UNDP comprehensive approach to citizen security that includes citizen culture and coexistence, reduction of risk factors, prevention through environmental design, reduction of gender-based violence, police strengthening, and access to justice. -Designed and applied knowledge tools on citizen security such as conceptual papers, situational diagnostic tools, institutional assessment guidelines, data collection surveys and templates, project design and implementation guidelines, good practices dissemination and exchange mechanisms, and training courses.-Formulated and supported the implementation of strategies and policies on citizen security, with a focus on strengthening state capacities, in municipalities of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, and Mexico.-Gathered and disseminated state-of-the-art knowledge and practices on citizen security in Latin America, including the designing and implementation of in-person training courses in Aracaju, Brasilia, Victoria, Campinas, Canoas, Cuiaba (Brazil); Bogota, Valledupar (Colombia); and Cuautitlán Izcalli (Mexico).-Advised the Brazilian Ministry of Justice on the planning and implementation of the public safety knowledge fair.-Coordinated and supervised a network of associated experts on citizen security and development.

- Supported the implementation and follow-up of knowledge fairs on local governance in Guayaquil (Ecuador), Rosario (Argentina) and San José (Costa Rica). - Developed and applied knowledge management tools on local governance and human development. - Created and updated the virtual fair platform and workspace, tools to foster communication, knowledge exchange and promotion across UNDP in Latin America.

- Supported the identification, systematization and promotion of 287 best practices on local governance (anticorruption, leadership, public safety, public sector strengthening and citizens’ participation) from 15 countries of Latin America. - Supported the organization and implementation of Bogota’s knowledge fair on local governance where the achievements of the city in terms of education, transportation, public safety and management were recognized and discussed by experts and practitioners from Latin American.
