Crime and destruction nearly destroyed my once peaceful neighborhood and made it an un pleasant and un safe place to live. Not having the option or desire of re locating, I set out to repair it and make it livable again. Conventional methods wouldn't work here. With neighbors unwilling to get involved and corrupt Law Enforcement working against me as well as a language barrier and cultural differences, the job would not be easy. There had to be an alternative approach. Neighbors were skeptical at first.Many joined just to see what I was up to and who knew what. So I took it slow. only discussing casual things like sidewalk repair and the weather. It was neighbors outside my community that helped me break the ice. We talked about problems in their neighborhoods and what they were doing about it. My neighbors could read these conversations , and started joining in. It just grew from there. We have a new Police Force now. They are doing a great job but still a little green. We try to encourage them to hang in there and we want to help.Recently I received a message from Nextdoor saying that our local PD had joined and wanted to have better communication with the Community Leads. I was very excited, but it does not seem to be happening. When I ask their spokes person (Officer Critchfield) he informed me that he hadn't heard of any such thing. I sent him the link , but no response. I would like to see more Law Enforcement interaction. It is nearly impossible to maintain safe and friendly neighborhoods without reliable Law Enforcement . Our Police chief strongly believes in Community Policing. This might be very effective in some Cities , but we are a crime hub . Criminals here laugh at Community Policing and see it as a weakness. It makes our City a dangerous environment for everyone. Residents deserve better that that. It is expensive to live here Property and taxes are higher than most areas in the entire state.

My job is reporting unusual activity, listening to neighbors concerns, responding, referring , advising, suggesting, encourageing, and keeping peace amoung Neighbors, and sometimes just chatting
