I focus my practice on product liability, commercial litigation and intellectual property matters, appearing before state and federal courts in Texas and elsewhere. I have, and continue to, defend clients in product liability-related matters involving thousands of plaintiffs. I also represent clients in complex commercial litigation matters, handling a range of business disputes including breach of contract, covenants not to compete, business dissolutions, and fraud and fraudulent misrepresentation claims. Additionally, I defend clients in personal injury and intellectual property matters.

Provide legal operations management such as, reviewing and evaluating legal technologies, managing legal spend. Mentor, manage, train, and supervise local counsel and associates. Also responsible for performance counseling and coaching of associates, paralegals, and staff, to include conducting performance reviews and making salary recommendations. Conduct, lead, manage, and oversee business and complex commercial litigation as lead and co-counsel in the areas of patent and other intellectual property litigation, product liability, personal injury, oil and gas disputes, legal malpractice, and ethics. Conduct client counseling in a wide variety of business issues, including, but not limited to business protection strategies and employment issues related to the protection of business confidential information. Function as local counsel to out-of-state firms in patent litigation and commercial litigation.

Responsibilities included handling IP strategies for corporate and government clients, to include consulting on IP litigation matters (patent, trademark, and copyright) and developing IP litigation strategies for resolving client disputes.

Asked by former partners of Weil, Gotshal and Manges to move with them to open the Houston office of Fish & Richardson. As Of Counsel in of one of the leading patent litigation groups in the world, participated in and managed complex patent litigation for a global manufacturer of electronics, to include training representatives of this global manufacturer in the operations of US legal system, leading to a very successful resolution of the litigation prior to trial. Strategically led, managed, supervised, and mentored a team of junior associates, paralegals, in-house technical advisors, and staff in all phases of litigation for efficient management of the litigation. Performed IP due diligence reviews for M&A transactions.

As an associate in of one of the leading patent litigation groups in the world, effectively conducted all phases (from pre-filing investigation to post-trial) of complex patent litigation, strategically and efficiently leading and managing litigation teams for several of the leading global manufacturers of computer hardware and software, semiconductors, and electronics. Additionally, in conjunction with associate duties, prosecuted Class C misdemeanors as sole trial counsel in both jury and bench trials on behalf of the City of Houston and the State of Texas as a Houston Municipal Court Volunteer Prosecutor, winning 12 of 14 trials.

Litigated intellectual property cases involving patent, trademark, and copyright infringement issues. Prosecuted trademark appeals and oppositions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Drafted and assisted in the drafting of trademark and copyright applications.

Litigated intellectual property cases involving patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secrets infringement in the computer and oil and gas industries. Litigated cases involving non-IP related issues such as breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. Also, drafted and filed patent applications in the mechanical technologies. Additionally, drafted trademark and copyright applications and handled UDRP disputes.

Responsible for promoting laparoscopic and mechanical surgical equipment to hospitals throughout the Washington D.C. and Southern Maryland area. Managed $1.5-2.0 million dollar sales territory. Among top 5% of sales representatives nationwide in several product lines. Advised surgeons during surgical procedures in the use of equipment. Conducted contract reviews and ensured buying group contract compliance. Assisted in the testing of new products for potential commercialization.

Ensured the production of imagery for use in intelligence analyses as the Asst. Officer-In-Charge of the Strategic Air Command’s Intelligence Photo Lab managing 65 intelligence photo technicians. Facilitated strategic planning for Strategic Air Command. Improved bombing success of aircraft delivering “smart bombs” through selection of targets for strike as a Target Intelligence Officer serving in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. Commended for combat targeting expertise and aggressiveness during combat during Desert Storm. Awarded the Air Force Meritorious Service and Liberation of Kuwait Medals.
