Norma has been on the frontlines fighting to take down the barriers and build healthier Latinx communities since her days volunteering for Planned Parenthood Arizona (PPAZ) during Obamacare’s open enrollment in 2014. Shortly, Norma joined the Planned Parenthood Arizona team as a RAIZ organizer amidst the 2016 elections, while also being instrumental in the grassroots effort that unseated AZ's infamous Sheriff Arpaio. Over the course of two years at PPAZ, she led the way creating an engaged volunteer network as a fearless advocate in battle after battle to defend Planned Parenthood and against the repeal of the ACA. Telling her story as a DACAmented young woman in front of congress members in summits or videos shared nationwide, Norma helped raise awareness to the undeniable truth that healthcare is a human right no matter folks' immigration status. Currently, Norma is a Senior Specialist for Latinx leadership and engagement within the Strategic Partnership team at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. As a Specialist, Norma continues to focus on creating healthy Latinx communities by expanding access to reproductive health and rights and fostering strong relationships with Latinx and Immigrant rights partners who are essential to the strength of our organization and movement.
