I’m the Sr Systems Administrator for Practice Fusion, a healthcare startup. In this role I focus on the company’s technical infrastructure, ensuring that end users have the best possible experience. The scope ranges from VMware capacity planning to Infrastructure as code to AWS cost management. Being in this sector has really opened my eyes to the complexity of healthcare. Before joining Practice Fusion, I worked at Advent Software. As the communications engineer, it was my responsibility to facilitate and automate the transmissions of daily account-level information for reconciliation from over a hundred prime brokers and custodians. Later as a team lead with 5 direct reports, we provided 24x5 coverage for the partners, application end users and systems.I’m passionate about my work and always eager to connect with other techs. While I enjoy all aspects of my job, my favorite is the brainstorming that occurs during the early phases of a project. As ideas converge to requirements, I find myself trying to apply use-cases for newly discovered tools and frameworks.I have an BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. Before finding my passion in IT, I was in manufacturing at Intel Corp as well as a real estate appraisal apprentice.
