Dario J Laganà is an Italian photographer based in Berlin since 2010 with a background in travel documentation and photojournalism.In the last years he got funded 2 times by the Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur for their interest in his photographic projects that examine the relationship between German history and society.In 2015 he was co-author and project coordinator of "We Will Forget Soon", a documentary-photographic research project in the footsteps of the Soviet Army in the former GDR with a book and an exhibition tour (8 cities), part of the official program of the Berlin Art Week 2015 and presented at the Capitoline Hill in Rome.In 2019 he developed his second project “Deutschland Übergestern - Radikale Veränderungen am Arbeitsplatz nach der Wende”, that had a catalogue and 2 months solo exhibition at Fotogalerie Friedrichshain (Nov 2019 - Jan 2020), listen in the official program of the Jubiläums 30 Jahre Mauerfall. In addition to his interest in history, in his artistic practice Laganà explored the relationship between human emotions (emotional entropy) and its visual representation in photography in a series of experimental portrait projects - DEAF (deaf-sordo), 2012, Chunks of Soul, 2017. The series of projects is ongoing and will bring a next one in 2024.In the last 7 years ( - ongoing) he’s been collaborating with the Berlin based Argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno as lead photographer (artwork documentation, exhibitions, light design, new printed based artworks development) as well as photo editor (visual narrative) for books and publications. With this experience he has been documenting “Webs of Life” at the Serpentine Gallery in London, “On Air” - Carte Blanche at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, “Aria” - Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in Firenze, “Fly with Aerocene Pacha” - Salinas Grandes, Jujuy, Argentina, the 58th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia in Venice among other experiences. In 2019-23 pictures were featured on several newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Forbes, Artribune, Wallpaper Magazine, National Geographic, The Guardian, Dezeen.He has been social art teacher, artist and coordinator for Berlin workshops of two projects of social art (a combination of intercultural approach and artistic mediation based on the methodology of the Belgian artist Werner Moron) developed together with other European countries and funded with the support from the European Commission (INSART 2016 and Real Path 2019).
