Major research and specialty are in the area of malaria research and Human papilloma virus (HPV).A. Major achievement in the malaria study were; 1: establishment of long term malaria culture over six (6) months, 2: demonstration of cyto-adherence antigen on the surface of infected red blood cells by the Plasmodia falciparum malaria, 3: demonstration of the development of antibody from a convalescent serum against the primary isolate.B. Major achievement in the Human papilloma virus (HPV) study were; 1: the successful extraction of DNA from a formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue, 2: successful detection and typing of HPV, 3: identifying the predominant HPV types in Papua New Guinea, HPV-18 is the predominant followed by HPV-16, 4: Demonstrating that HPV-18 is more associated with Adenocarcinoma, while HPV-16 is more associated with Squaremous cell carcinoma.This now provide solid scientific basis of HPV immunization program in Papua New Guinea.C.
