Lead software developer at a start-up specializing in imaging and records management, primarily targeting the health care industry.• Took over the company’s second-largest application immediately after hire, to automate OCR verification for payment posting via EDI in a sophisticated UI with a multi-threaded engine interfacing with multiple legacy database systems.• Authored the MSI-based installer for the company’s flagship product using WiX, including WiX extensions in C++. Also contributed to the open-source development of WiX itself.• Worked directly with customers to develop custom OCR extraction components and custom web applications.• Persuaded the team to move the main product from a client/server to a three-tier model, and led the team in implementing a new middle tier. Later participated in replacing this with .NET web services in C# using a SQL Server back end, rewriting the entire data layer in T-SQL.• Co-authored the web interface to the company’s main application, developing all the code for doing client-side viewing, redaction, annotation, and printing of images, pushing the limits of dynamic HTML to deliver a browser-based document imaging system.• Developed multithreaded Windows services for automated importing.• Was the go-to guy for solving hopeless and mysterious problems.• Substantially revised & continually maintained the team’s automated batch build process.• Authored documentation for most of the company’s products.• Introduced NUnit unit testing to the team’s development process and coded the first unit tests targeting it.
